Crisbell's time manipulation powers notably also apply in combat, which in practice means that enemies can be strategically sent forward or backward in time - and altered as a result. Overworld puzzles, then, oftentimes require learning information in past to influence the present and change the future, among other time travel shenanigans. Its core gameplay mechanic, around which many of the game's innovations are based, is the ability of protagonist Crisbell to view her past and future, sometimes simultaneously. Its influences aren't the only way "Cris Tales" unites the past and present, however. It's almost haunting to wander through destroyed buildings and wonder what might have stood there before, and what strange cataclysmic event led to so much ruin. The sprawling, lushly appointed world is full of different biomes to explore, each with remnants of the world before whatever apocalyptic event wiped out human kind. Critics noted that the narrator proved annoying for some players - and the devs responded by releasing a patch that lets players turn the narrator off.Īpart from its unique storytelling, "Biomutant" is simply gorgeous. Instead of characters directly speaking, an omniscient narrator speaks for them, translating their chirps and gurgles into understandable language. What sets "Biomutant" apart from other RPGs is that none of its characters ever say a word. Along the way there are several monsters terrorizing the land, each of which must be defeated with special tools or assistance from locals. "Biomutant" takes place in a post-apocalyptic open world and follows a young mutant as they journey to unite various tribes or drive them further apart. These types of contained, well-written moments provide players a chance to get to know each character on a more individual level. Yuito and Kasane also have a wide cast of teammates to interact with, and they can get to know each character through special cutscenes. Players can choose to play the game as Yuito or Kasane, with each character having their own unique plot and dialogue. One of the most interesting features in "Scarlet Nexus" is its inclusion of a dual storyline. Players must focus on individual items to throw. Additionally, players have to actually remain aware of their surroundings, as pushing the same button over and over again isn't what the combat system in "Scarlet Nexus" is all about. Each character has different skillsets and special abilities, making team composition something to consider before launching into battle. While that sounds simple in practice, fights offer significant opportunities for strategy. That's right the main combat mechanics of "Scarlet Nexus" focus on using psychic abilities to heave giant objects at enemies, effectively crushing them. Anyone looking for a card-based game that doesn't seem too much like a run of the mill card-based game should check out "Loop Hero." "It's refreshing as hell to play a game that doesn't even hint at how to unlock some of its powerful effects," Lahti explained. Instead of forcing players through long tutorials, "Loop Hero" lets mysteries reveal themselves through actual play, which is more surprising and delightful than the alternative. PC Gamer's Evan Lahti said that part of the charm of "Loop Hero" was its absolute refusal to explain itself. Instead of trying to decimate an enemy, players are just getting through a dungeon as best they can. ![]() ![]() "Loop Hero" borrows the tactical nature of many turn-based RPGs and repurposes the strategic planning found in them. Players construct a path through the dungeon with their available cards, arranging obstacles in such a way to make the journey the least painful. Most of the time, card games revolve around deck-building or battles, but "Loop Hero" puts a twist on the formula by making each card representative of a dungeon element, like a monster or trap.

The sharpness improves at f/2.8 and maximum sharpness is reached at f/4.Įveryone loves a mid-range zoom. As a prime, I expect it to be sharp, but the quality exceeded my expectations.Įven at the widest aperture, the image was very usable across the whole frame. The autofocus is also fast and effective.Īdditionally, this is an impressively sharp lens. The focus ring on the Sony 24mm f/1.8 feels smooth and has a nice grip. Together they make a great combo for dark shooting environments. This lens is one of the larger APS-C E-mount lenses, likely because of the fast aperture.Īt f/1.8, it lets in a lot of light, pairing nicely with the Sony a6500’s low light photography performance. I would compare it in feel to the Sony FE 55mm f/1.8. With the all-metal barrel, it feels solid, but it must have some plastic in the design because it is surprisingly light. The quality feels similar to other full frame E-mount lenses I own, despite the fact that this is a crop sensor lens designed for the a6500 series. Upon holding it, you can feel the quality and know that it will last! This lens immediately impressed me with its sturdy build quality. The E lenses are generally smaller and lighter than their full-frame (FE) counterparts. Otherwise, it’s best to stick with the lenses designed for your system. The only reason to buy FE lenses for your a6500 is if you’re planning to upgrade to a full-frame mirrorless Sony in the future or you already have one and want to share lenses between the two. Sony FE lenses can be used on all Sony mirrorless cameras whether full frame or not, but perform with a 1.5* focal length multiplication on APS-C cameras. FE lenses were made for Sony’s full-frame line-ups (like the A7 series). the Sony alpha a6500 and other a6xxx cameras). The difference between ‘E’ and ‘FE’ lenses is simple: E lenses were made for Sony’s crop sensor APS-C cameras (i.e. (There’s also a lesser known A-mount, made for Sony Translucent Mirror type camera bodies, but that won’t come into play here.) The ‘E-mount’ itself simply refers to the mount on the camera body itself, where the lens attaches. There are two main types of lens for Sony ‘E-mount’ cameras: ‘FE’ and ‘E’ lenses. Check out my top lenses for the Sony a6500 in the table below and read on for all the details. Several of the options below pair well with the small body. It fits in your pocket, so you don’t want to attach a big lens to it and make the camera less compact. If you’ve chosen the Sony a6500, most likely you appreciate a small form factor. In addition, you want a do-all lens to keep on your camera most of the time to document a variety of scenes. If you’re like me, you shoot a variety of subjects and want several camera lenses to cover a broad range of focal lengths. Landscape photographers usually tend to want something wide angle to capture large scenes. Portrait photographers tend to want something on the medium to telephoto range to create nice bokeh. The first thing to consider when choosing lenses is what type of subjects you like to shoot. Great low-light performance, feather-light, sturdy build quality and execeptional auto-focus makes this a must have lens for the Sony a6500.
